A study of pain & a run in the leaves

I have been fortunate in my life with breast cancer. I haven’t experienced a lot of pain.
Certainly, there have been times of discomfort and moderate pain. I feel lucky, however, to be living a pretty pain-free life.
Unfortunately, not everyone living with this disease can say the same.
Women who are diagnosed with breast cancer can develop chronic pain after treatment. The reason some women have pain and others do not is unclear.
A research team at the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah is studying the effects of Cymbalta, a medication that acts in the brain to alter how pain is perceived.
The researchers want to better understand why some breast cancer patients who have chronic pain and are treated with Cymbalta experience improvement in pain levels.
To do this, the research team is seeking 56 women living in or willing to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, who have been diagnosed with stage 0-3 breast cancer in the past 12 years and are experiencing chronic pain that has developed or worsened since diagnosis.
During the study, participants will be treated with Cymbalta for seven weeks to determine how the medication affects their level of pain and their sensitivity to pain.

The leaves are changing colors in Colorado. The temperatures are dropping. And, I’m happy to have some running shoes and a new ‘Golden Boy’ bra to put to use. Today’s blog is short because I want to get outside and play.
A pretty gorgeous fall is underway in Colorado. The leaves are changing colors. The temperatures are dropping. And, the outdoors is calling.
I bought a new ‘Golden Boy’ bra yesterday. No trauma recorded.
So, I’m cutting today’s blog a bit short to get outside and put my running shoes and Golden Boy to work.
Have a great Thursday! ~Kelley
